Prologue · The House of Sansom

Swiss Watches & Luxury Watches.

Sansom Watches is a Swiss Watch Shop originally founded on Philadelphia's Historic Jeweler's Row. Established in 1851. In 2024, Sansom Watches moved to Philadelphia's Main Line and King of Prussia area. We now have free and safe parking at our front door.

Our showroom is a comfortable and fun place to check out all of the luxury watches. It's a convenient location to drop off and pick up Swiss watch repairs. Visit us at the Radnor Financial Center, 150 N. Radnor Chester Road, Suite F-200, Radnor, PA 19087.

Sansom Watches is open to the public.

Chapter 01 · The Move

From Sansom Street to the Main Line.

The trade is the same. The bench is the same. The hands are the same. In 2024 we brought 170 years of Philadelphia watchmaking to a new front door at the Radnor Financial Center — with free parking, curb-side service, and the same family behind the counter.

Chapter 02 · Where It Started

The Oldest Diamond District in America.

Jeweler's Row stretches along Sansom Street in Center City, Philadelphia — older than the diamond districts of New York, Antwerp, and Tel Aviv. Sansom Watches took its name from the street, and from the trade that built it. For more than 170 years our family has been buying, selling, trading, and servicing fine timepieces.

Epilogue · Notes from the Address
i.

The Name.

Many people misspell our name. We are not Samson Watches or Samsom Watches — Samson is the guy in the Bible. We are named after the builder Sansom who created the first experimental row home in North America in approximately 1770.

ii.

The Address.

Many famous people have lived at this location, including Edgar Allan Poe — American writer, editor and literary critic, best known for his tales of mystery and the macabre.

iii.

The Landmark.

We sit inside the Radnor Financial Building — an address GPS handles politely but humans handle reluctantly. Easier directions: we are directly across the street from Micro Center on Route 1 (Lancaster Avenue) in Wayne, PA. If you can find the place where laptops, motherboards, and 3D printers go to be adopted, you have already found us. Park at Micro Center, look across the street, and aim for the building that quietly houses fine Swiss watches instead of graphics cards.
